Sue Darr is a lifelong resident of Somerset County and has dedicated more than four decades to serving her community, her state, and the Republican Party. Since 2009, she has served as a Pennsylvania State Republican Committee Member representing Somerset County and as Secretary of the Pennsylvania State Committee Southwest Caucus.
Sue describes her approach to public service simply: integrity, honesty, dedication, and boots-on-the-ground service.
Her commitment to Somerset County extends well beyond her role on the State Republican Committee. She has served on the Somerset County Republican Committee Executive Board and previously served as Executive Secretary, Vice Chair, and Events Chair. She has also chaired community and political events including banquets, parades, and the Somerset County Fair booth.
Sue brings 44 years of volunteer experience at the national, state, and local levels. Over the years, she has participated in numerous political campaigns and worked with candidates and elected officials at local, state, and national levels.
She also served as Southwest Regional Director for Doug Mastriano's gubernatorial campaign, coordinating campaign efforts across ten southwestern Pennsylvania counties.
In addition to her political involvement, Sue spent 25 years in state service as a supervisor at SCI-Somerset before retiring.
Sue's commitment to Somerset County includes extensive civic and community involvement.
She has been a member of the Flight 93 Memorial Task Force since 2001, contributing to committees focused on design and implementation, fundraising, and public relations.
Her community service has also included involvement with the Somerset Hospital Auxiliary, Somerset Chamber of Commerce, Somerset Rotary Club, Somerset Inc., the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the SCI-Somerset Employee Association.
Sue has also served as a Department of Health Local Registrar since 2014.
At St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Somerset, Sue has served on the Servant's Hands, Property, Hospitality, and Visiting committees.
Her years of volunteer service were recognized with a Volunteer Award in 2008.
Sue is a Christian who says her faith and conservative values are central to her life and service.
She is a proud mother of two sons and grandmother of seven grandchildren. She is married to Scott Harr.
As a lifelong Somerset County resident, Sue considers serving her community both an honor and a responsibility.
Sue's continued service on the Pennsylvania State Republican Committee reflects her commitment to being a voice for Somerset County at the state level.
Her focus remains on listening to constituents, staying engaged with local communities, and bringing Somerset County's perspective to state-level discussions.
